Within an area of around 800m², in the knights’ hall of Sommeregg Castle, there is Central Europe’s largest torture museum.
More than 100 exhibits true to the original, supplemented by scientific texts, document the legal history of the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Age. This presentation is a museum corresponding to the modern spirit of the times, with both an educational and a pleasantly grisly aspect.
The special exhibition by Amnesty International shows the visitor that unfortunately torture is not a closed chapter of mankind.
