The little moor lake at Wolfsberg is without a doubt a special lake experience. Egelsee is nestled into pristine nature at Hochgosch, the high ridge between the southern shore of Lake Millstatt and the lower Drau valley.

The 9.35-hectare Egelsee is surrounded by undulating grasses and invites you to go on extensive walks or light mountain bike tours for explorers. The natural gem can be accessed on foot or by mountain bike along the Lake Millstatt cycle path circuit on the southern shore. By car it can be accessed through Molzbichl as far as Gasthof Lug ins Land, with a further kilometre/15 minutes on foot as far as the romantic moor lake.

Kneipp at Egelsee

Stroll along the 1.5-kilometre-long Kneipp trail from Gasthof Lug ins Land via Egelsee to the viewing point “Lug ins Land”. The path passes various Kneipp stations along the effluences of Egelsee. Sensory barefoot paths invite you to walk over moss, pebbles and pine cones and to treat your feet and legs in the moor pool.

Panels at the various stations encourage you to do breathing exercises and full-body activities. Your efforts will be rewarded with a panorama over the Drautal at the end viewing point “Lug ins Land”.

TIP: If temperatures allow it, Egelsee transforms in winter into a dark expanse of ice, inviting ice skaters to enjoy a romantic skate in a snowy winter landscape.
